We have chosen a few programs to start with and are expanding based on feedback from the community for their needs and requirements.
Food Collection & Distribution
NEST4US is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to providing volunteer solutions to the community to make the world better through kindness. Their overall vision is to empower people of all ages and backgrounds to create a more compassionate and inclusive world by instilling a passion for service through random acts of kindness.
Volunteering activities include:
Lead for Panera Bread Rescue (Ashburn area) – Weekly activities include managing the collection and distribution of Panera bread bakery items earmarked for charitable purposes. Manage the distribution and ensure the volunteers pick up the bakery items and distribute to shelters and other recognized charitable organizations.
Food pickups from local bakeries, restaurants and drop offs to multiple shelter locations in the NOVA and tri-state region
Organizing family and friends cooking and distribution drives for special occasions
Health And Hygiene Programs
At Project Plase (People Lacking Ample Shelter and Employment), support is provided to individuals who are HIV/AIDS positive, individuals with mental illness, individuals with physical, developmental, or other disabilities. Additionally, opportunities and support is provided to rehabilitate individuals fighting substance abuse, homeless veterans, ex-offenders and the homeless.
Volunteering activities include:
Conduct HealthAndHygiene drives to ensure regular distribution of basic hygiene and care products at the shelter locations and disadvantaged communities. Includes clothes and other items of use for the homeless and sick.
Patient Care And Clinics
Smile Wonders provides proper dental care for children with special medical, physical or behavioral conditions that require special needs dentistry. The doctors and staff experience and passion lies in providing collaborative and comprehensive oral health care for patients with craniofacial anomalies such as Cleft Lip and Palate, Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Neural Tube defects, Epilepsy, traumatic brain injury and various other congenital conditions.
Volunteering activities include:
Front office management for patient scheduling and insurance handling. Creating databases of patients, paperwork filing and supporting the general office upkeep and digitalization.
Intearctions with young patients to make them comfortable and to address their special needs
Academics Volunteering
The Dulles South Food Pantry’s goal is to alleviate hunger in Loudoun County by soliciting, collecting and distributing food through a food pantry based within the Dulles South community that is supported by a network of multi-faith institutions and community organizations.
It’s a community driven non-profit serving Dulles South residents and the surrounding area, providing nutritious food, personal supplies and life changing social services to the neighbors in need.
Activities include volunteering to support the collection, sorting and distribution of food and personal supplies into right sized packages for further distribution and collection.
Spiritual Upliftment Volunteering
ISKCON – International Society for Krishna Consiousness. International spiritual community in all major cities and countries globally is the destination for spiritual seekers, offering a range of experiences guaranteed to uplift the heart and soul.
Volunteering activities include:
Supporting the kitchen activities for cooking and cleaning at mega public events and festivals
Serving the visitors and devotees at breakfast, lunch and dinner
Overall event coordination and management to ensure a pleasant experience for the spiritual seekers
School And Arts Volunteering
Supporting and voluntering for activities of Loudoun County Public schools whose motto is – Empowering all students to make meaningful contributions to the world. Mentor for Briar Woods High School Freshman students. Also, support volunteering activities for Middle School students of class 6-8th with STEM and Music lessons.
Volunteering activities include:
Provide needy students with academic resources and emotional support. Free coaching and tutoring for academics (STEM) - Science, Technology, Engish and Mathematics
Free coaching and tutoring for Music (Guitar)
Mentor new students in High school to make sure they feel comfortable in the new environment and support with information on resources available to them
